Cottles Island Lumber Company was created in 1979 by Rex Philpott of New World Island, Newfoundland. Cottles Island Lumber has grown to an enterprise that now outputs 5,500,000 board feet of lumber annually and operates a number of related subsidiaries, employing more than 100 people.
